Leonard Russell Stonehouse - Passed

With much sadness, we announce the passing of Robert (“Bob”) Pyne, 86 of Dartmouth. He was the son of the late Allen and Lillian (Mount) Pyne. He was also predeceased by his sister, Jean Tymer. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 67 years, Marie (Porter) Pyne, son Lester, daughter Brenda (Michael) Kehoe, grandchildren Ryan Osborne (Leah) and Cynthia Osborne (Simon), and brother Vaughn (Lina).

Bob was born in Digby on February 22, 1936. Starting in his late teens, he worked in, then later co-managed his father’s grocery store in Digby, until entering the field of education. He was an instructor in adult education in Windsor before continuing his teaching career and settling in Dartmouth. While working, he earned his B.Ed. from Dalhousie University. He completed his working career as a Curriculum Development Consultant with the NS Department of Education, developing curriculum for various programs in the network of Nova Scotia Community Colleges.

He took great pleasure in the simple things in life – time with family, a good book, a nice drive, a walk in the park, meeting up with close friends, watching the birds, and enjoying time in the backyard. He liked to tinker in his workshop, and could create or repair just about anything, with great attention to detail.

He was a loving, dedicated, patient, fun-loving son, brother, husband, dad, and “Grandad”, and a great friend to many. We will never forget and will always miss his wonderful smile, ever-supportive wisdom, calming influence, the regular whistle or hum of a tune, and the twinkle in his eye.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 21st in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth between 7pm-9pm. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Wednesday 22nd March at 1pm with a reception to follow.
