McCarlie, Vincent Sullivan 92 of Digby, passed away on November 26, 2019 at the Digby General Hospital. Born in St. Andrews NB, he was a son of the late Fredrick and Elizabeth (Delaney) McCarlie.

He was a lover of golf and his letter from Arnold Palmer on his 90th birthday, he also enjoyed bowling and curling. His 13 years at the Montreal Shriners Hospital as a child formed his decision to become a dedicated member of the Mason’s in King Solomon Lodge #54, then a Shriner where he enjoyed traveling, assisting people in need, organizing Shriners charity events, helping out with numerous church and community suppers/events. Vincent’s family was always a priority and he always provided wholesome activities for them such as camping, skating, swimming at the lake and a trip to Expo 67.

He is survived by his daughters, Marleen (Bruce) Baugild, Marianne (Perry) Comeau; sons, Robert (Diane) McCarlie, Michael (Pamela) McCarlie, Charles (Paulette) McCarlie; sisters, Rae Ladouceur, Ricci Hawkins; grandchildren, Josh (Patty) Comeau, Andrew (Monique) Comeau, Brant (Andria) Baugild, Jill (Andrew) Newell, Ryan (Shawna) McCarlie, Mathew (Katie) McCarlie, Shaun (Jessica) McCarlie, Elise (Andrew) O’Brien; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Eileen (Marshall) McCarlie; brothers, Bill, Robert, George; sisters, Ann, Joyce; and grandson, Christopher Charles McCarlie.

On behalf of the family we would like to give a heartfelt thank you to longtime friend Dessie Dingwell, as well as Donald and Cairine Robertson for their love, friendship and prayers they shared with our father. Special thank you to Dr. John Black for his care and medical support over the years and Marilyn Handspiker for being a good friend and caregiver. If it wasn’t for her, Dad would not have been able to get out as often as he did.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby. There will be a Masonic Lodge service followed by a funeral service at Digby United Baptist Church, 2 PM on Saturday, November 30. 2019. Rev Jeff White and Donald Robertson presiding.
